Angry Singa the Lion

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Singa was launched on 1982. But seems like Singa had lost his power. Singaporean are still not very courteous. Singa, try harder for another 30 years!

孤单旅程, Melaka

After last Bali trip, I guess I'm kinda addicted to travelling alone. I had decided, Melaka will be my next destination. Satay Lok Lok, Mille Crepe, Chendol, Chicken Rice Ball... ... ... <3

Friday, May 18, 2012

I was browsing through Facebook and saw this interesting photo posted in it.

It's a parody of the Last Supper in Christian art.

Every interesting. Seriously need to do this kind of funny things more often. Thumbs up for the photographer!

My Bali Experiences

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Finally fulfilled one of my life time 'dream' which is to try travelling alone. Without any hesitation, I bought the air ticket to Bali like only 4 days before the trip. Everything was decided and done last minute.

At that moment when I was purchasing the flight ticket, all I had in my mind was to get out of Singapore first and think later. Didn't make a wrong choice! haha!

To be honest, travelling alone wasn't as bad as I thought. Thou sometimes at night when I really feel like sharing some thought about my Bali Trip but there's no one physically there with me. But lucky enough, I had a few friends who are constantly worried about me and apps me to kill my lonely night in Bali.

My flight to Bali was on a Friday, 1600 hrs. When I arrived in Bali, it was 1830 hrs.

Bali sun set an hour earlier than Singapore. The photo above might look like 2000 hrs onwards, but it's actually only 1830 hrs in the early evening.

Upon arrival, I got no mood for shopping nor partying. Went to the nearby convenience shop to get some chips and hid myself in the hotel room. The hotel I stayed in during the trip is called The Haven, Seminyak. I found the hotel kinda fusiony and cozy. But it's kinda pricey too. Not recommended if you're going for a budget trip. Furthermore, the boutiques near to the hotel I stayed in sold clothes which I believed is slightly higher than the other area.

Rented a Honda Scoopy to cut down on the travelling time and also ease me from walking from point to point. Rented this at 100,000 rupiahs, which is approximately S$14, from 10am to 4pm. But according from Dinghan, he went there and managed to get a 40,000 rupiahs deal and for 24 hrs. Kena 'carrot' big time. But since I'm there alone, I'm prepared to be 'carrot' by the people there. So, it's okay.

Oh, FYI, we don't have to produce any license to rent a bike there. I'm riding without an license. LOL.

After which, I visited Tanah Lot. Tanah Lot is famous for it's temple.  Because the temple uniquely was built on a large offset rock. Got to be prepared to get a bit wet on your lower body when crossing over from the shore to the temple. There's no bridge built to link the shore and temple together. Anyway, the water is not that deep.

Other than going to Tanah Lot to look at the unique temple, I was hoping to take a few shoots of the sunset in Bali. But due to the cloudy weather... ... ... no sunset for me.

The taxi driver who drove me to Tanah Lot was kind enough to bring me to a local market for a plate of cheap and (to them is) nice Babi Guling. Which is also known as the Bali Suckling Pig.

What's in the plate? There's roasted pig skin, fried pig skin, fried pig intestine, fried pig lungs, Yes! Lungs. Very dry and hard. The texture of the pig lung is like a super dried up sponge. Other than all those disgusting organs, there's pork satay which tasted so 'Thai-nish' and seasoned shredded coconut.

I'm someone who loved to eat pig skin. But the pig skin they served literally disgusted me. In Singapore, the Kway Chap stall who sell the pig skin will ensured the hair were all PLUCK out but the skin I ate can still see unshaven hair. Disgusting to the max.

How can I miss going to the club before I come back to SG right?!

Recommended Sky Garden, Bali, to JJ. I know he will definitely love that place a lot. It's a 3 storey high club. Just try to imagine this 3 storey high building with 9 freaking Zouk in it. Yes! 9 zouks. In Sky Garden, there's a total of 9 stand alone pubs and club under one company. Every single pub/club is filled with clubbers and since there's 9 different rooms. You'll expect different genres of music in every individual room.

So to conclude. Bali is really a nice place if you are looking for a place to getaway from. But never do a last minute trip for Bali. LOL.

With that I ended my Bali trip on the 13th May 2012.

Looking for the next getaway trip.

Happy 21st, Alson

Monday, May 14, 2012

Finally, my adorable junior, Alson had turned 21!

It's kinda great looking at my juniors one by one growing up right in front of my eye. I remembered seeing them from secondary 1 which is like 13 years old then. Now most of them were 19 - 24 years old.

Knowing my juniors is the greatest gift I had even received from the god. Unknowingly, they had spent my unhappy moment with me, making me smile. They made me feel so appreciated. =')

And I'll never forget all the things that we had done together.

Food Hunt @ Da Po Curry Chicken Mee

Da Po Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee & Chicken Rice / 大坡咖哩鸡面

面对面 Just Noodles - Curry Chicken Mee
Most voted choice!!! Best Curry Chicken Mee in Singapore

Like what 面对面 said, the bowl of Curry Chicken Mee is generously huge. Other than serving a huge portion, the chicken accompanied this bowl of Curry Chicken Mee was tender! I was given the breast meat. At first, I had the mindset that the meat will be dried and hard. But after one bite, I'm wrong. The breast meat is tender and soft. Not dry at all! (Y)
ZHU PI in the house!!!

Because I soaked the yellow noodle for too long and cause the curry to have the yellow noodle smelly smelly taste in it. So, didn't managed to get the full taste of the curry. But the curry fragrant is nice~~

I also realised that the longer you take to eat the curry noodle, the thicker the curry will become. Which I find it okay. Cause the gravy can actually stick to the noodle when you eat it.

In short, 7.5 stars out of 10.

大坡咖哩鸡面 is located at Golden Mile Food Centre. Go try it now and grade it!

Cheers.

Food Hunt @ Beach Road

Wednesday, May 09, 2012

Couldn't find anybody to go around hunting for good food with me lately. =/

So today I decided step out from my door and go for the legendary "No Pork, No Lard" Char Kway Teow.

翠绿炒果条面

Where?! Where the hell can you find crunchy fried ikan bilis (dried anchovies) in your Char Kway Teow?! It's none other than 翠绿炒果条面.

This plate of Char Kway Teow is considered a not bad for its less oil, no pork, no lard, no Chinese sausage, extra vegetables... ...

I got to also tell you how lovely the cockles are! Huge and fresh. Simple. You got to try it and believe it.

Maybe one thing which I dislike about it is that the beansprouts are not properly cooked. =/ If only the beansprouts are properly cook. This will be so loved by me.

3.5 stars out of 5 for you!!

It's located at Golden Mile Food Centre. Opening hours from 11pm till 9pm. If you're on for some 翠绿炒果条面 on Monday, you can totally forget about it. Cause it's not open.

So go try it. You might love it!

My little Getaway...

All I really want now is to go to a quiet place where I can really sit down and rearrange my thoughts.

So I decided to go for a short weekend getaway to BALI. Everything was planned like today? This trip will also marked my first 'Traveling Alone' record. In the afternoon, I was still telling JJ, hopefully I'll come back alive without being raped or robbed.

The sun, the sand, the sea, the spa... Not gonna miss drinking and get drunk there! But that's the part which I'll get worried for myself. Hope I don't get into any shit.

Still... life goes on... *shrug*

Food Hunt @ 顺发肉骨茶

Thursday, April 19, 2012

It had been a 'tummy filling' weekends for me recently.
Clarence and I had been going around this little red dot to hunt for infamous foods.
Last weekend was a little special. We took our passport and off we went to our neighbouring country, Malaysia, to hunt for the famous Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh 顺发肉骨茶.
The Bak Kut Teh is all served in claypot which I believed it will enhanced the taste of the soup.
As you know, the soup base we normally had in Singapore has a very strong peppery taste. But the soup served by Soon Huat has a very uniquely light herbal taste and it gave you a very different 'feel'.
Picture speaks a thousand words.
I could say that the price is definately reasonable as well.
Soon Huat is located at Jalan Sutera 1, Taman Sentosa, Johor, Malaysia.
The Business Hours: Closed at Monday, other days open from 8.30am and close at 9pm.

Food Hunt @ Strictly Pancakes

Friday, January 13, 2012

Recently, I had been going around pestering my friend to try Strictly Pancakes with me.

And finally, today is the day! The day where you guys normally called it T.G.I.F?

For people who are oblivious about Strictly Pancakes, it is located directly opposite POMO, which I believed it is used to be called as Paradise Centre.

If you guys are sick of having rice or noodle for lunch, Strictly Pancakes served both Salted and Sweet pancakes to fulfill our taste bud.

Jonas and I ordered Benedict the Thief and Garlic Buttered Prawn. Both were equally unique and it tasted good!

Benedict The Thief ($14): It comes with two poached eggs resting on top of a slice of turkey ham and two extra thick pancakes with an additional sausage-liked companion: Chicken Chipolata ($2.50)

Garlic Buttered Prawn ($14): 3 times pancakes served with prawns buttered with garlic and with additional bacon and sauteed mushrooms.

I had the garlic buttered prawn and it was fantastic. For the start, I thought having 3 stack of pancakes is not enough but it's not the case.

According to food reviews, Strictly Pancakes served mouth watering desserts. But unfortunately, I was too full to try their desserts. But not to worry. Because I'm sure I'll be back to try their Banana Scotched Pancakes - Caramelised bananas sizzled in pan with a dash of rum drizzled over the stack of pancakes and served with scoop of vanilla ice cream.

How could you resist the temptation?

I can't!

That's why I'm going back!
